My first perfect steak with SteakChamp

  1. Activate SteakChamp and insert into the steak.
  2. Sear or grill both sides of the steak for about 1–2 minutes on high heat.
  3. Turn down heat (cooker: half turn, grill approx. 270-300°F/130-150°C ) and cook slowly on medium heat. Turn steak around every 2 minutes.
  4. When the desired double flashing signal appears (e. g. green for medium rare), remove steak from heat and let it rest until the signal stops.
  5. Remove SteakChamp, season your steak with sea salt and pepper. And that’s it. Enjoy your Steak!

Cooking several steaks (same thickness) together

  1. Activate one SteakChamp and insert into a steak. Use it as your ‘reference’.
  2. Place all steaks on the grill/in the frying pan together.
  3. When the desired double flashing signal appears, remove all steaks from the heat and let them rest until the flashing signal stops
    Green double flash = medium rare
    Yellow double flash = medium
    Red double flash = medium well

Several steaks – different degrees of doneness:
Leave the steak with the SteakChamp along with the last steaks to be taken off the grill. For medium rare take the steak off the grill when the green double flash appears. When the green double flash appears, take the medium steak off the grill.

Searing steaks at extremely high temperature (>900°F/500°C)

Preparation for instance on infra-red broiler e. g. sizzle zone.

BBQ steak | steak medium | steak fire
  1. Sear steak on both sides until the desired degree of browning is achieved.
  2. Remove steak from heat. Activate SteakChamp and insert sideways into the steak.
  3. Continue cooking steak on medium heat (around 270-300°F/130-150°C) until the desired degree of doneness is reached. The appropriate signal appears on the SteakChamp.
    Green double flash = medium rare
    Yellow double flash = medium
    Red double flash = medium well

Large roast

  1. Sear/grill meat on all sides to create roasting flavor.
  2. Insert SteakChamp into the steak sideways or from above so that the tip of the temperature probe reaches at least the center of the steak.
  3. Cook the steak in the oven/on the grill (temperature 270-300°F/130-150°C) until the desired double flash color appears on the SteakChamp.
  4. When the double flash signal stops your steak has reached the desired degree of doneness. Only take the meat off the oven / grill when the flashing signal has stopped.

Duck breast

  1. Remove duck breast from heat and place on e.g. a wooden board.
  2. Activate SteakChamp and insert until completely inside the meat. Wear cooking gloves to do so.
  3. Continue cooking duck breast until the yellow double flash appears on the SteakChamp.
  4. Let the duck breast rest until the yellow double flash stops. Duck breast is now ‘medium’ done.

Game (loin)

  1. Activate SteakChamp and insert until completely inside the meat. The loin must be at least 3 cm thick.
  2. Prepare game as desired.
  3. Continue cooking meat until the yellow double flash appears on the SteakChamp.
  4. Let the game rest until the yellow double flash stops. The meat is now ‘medium’ done.

Fish

  1. The salmon steak should be at least 1.5in / 3cm thick.
  2. Activate SteakChamp and insert until completely inside the salmon steak.
  3. Cook salmon steak until the yellow double flash appears on the SteakChamp.
  4. Let the fish rest until the yellow double flash stops. The fish is now medium (translucent in color).
b) Whole fish

  1. Activate SteakChamp and stick it completely into the the fish. The metal probe must be surrounded on every side by at least 0.5in/1cm of fish.
  2. Grill the fish until the desired double flashing signal appears.
  3. Cook the fish until the double flashing signal stops.

Sous-Vide cooking with SteakChamp

  1. Activate SteakChamp and insert into the meat.
  2. Vacuum seal immediately and place in bain-marie
  3. Leave meat in bain marie until the desire core area temperature is reached. Remove meat from bain marie and vacuum bag when the desired double flash appears.
  4. Sear meat on both sides to create roasting flavor

 *Please note: SteakChamp will switch off after
30 minutes if temperature doesn’t increase more
than 9°F/5°C.
